Anti Wrinkle
Anti-wrinkle injections (commonly referred to as Botox) are a fabulous treatment to reduce and soften the look of those forehead creases, crows feet, smokers lines and elevensies (creases between our brows!) Anti-wrinkle injections contain Botulinum Toxin A which is injected into the muscle with very fine needles. This is a prescription-only drug (botulinum toxin) and will require a consultation with Emily. The anti-ageing treatment is injected into the face in order to relax the facial muscles and improve the appearance of wrinkles and creases. Anti wrinkle injections can also be used in non-cosmetic procedures including migraines and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). It is very safe when used by qualified and experienced doctor practitioners. Recovery time is short in comparison to many other cosmetic procedures.

What is Anti Wrinkle ?
The treatment is injected into the patient’s face, it relaxes the contraction of facial muscles by blocking nerve impulses. This will prevent the muscles contracting allowing the face to relax which will soften, reducing wrinkles and creases in the skin. The treatment is not permanent, so patients should anticipate re-treatments every few months to prevent further wrinkles from appearing, though each injection should also reduce the depth of newer wrinkles. In this respect, it can also be used preventatively, to delay the appearance of wrinkles.

How long does it last ?
The effect of treatment lasts on average 12 weeks after initial treatment. Muscle movement is expected to return at week 8 after treatment therefore the ‘frozen’ result does not last the entire 12 weeks and is expected to diminish after the 6 week point. This treatment is for an improvement of fine lines, not perfection. As static wrinkles due to skin thinning will not be improved by botulinum toxin, other types of treatment may be required. Some clients will not achieve a fully 'frozen' look. Please note, the purpose of Botox is to reduce movement. It is not guaranteed to fully stop movement.
What are the side affects or risks ?
Allergies and side effects to Botox treatment are extremely rare. The results of treatment cannot be guaranteed. Most people find that the injections cause only mild discomfort. Immediately after the treatment, there may be mild swelling, which usually disappears after 30 mins. Afterwards, the injection site can be slightly red for about one hour. In a small number of cases a bruise may occur. Rare side effects include: headache, nausea and flu-like symptoms. In very rare cases patients may also develop antibodies or allergies to the toxin, experience double-vision and watering eyes. For treatment of the upper face, such as frown and forehead, there is a very low risk of brow ptosis (drooping of the eyebrow) or eyelid ptosis (drooping of the eyelid), which completely reverses with time.
Pregnant or medical issues ?
If you are pregnant or a breastfeeding mother or sufferer from neuromuscular diseases such as Bells palsy or Myasthenia Gravis, treatment is not recommended.
Will the treatment hurt ?
As with any needle, you might feel a pinch when the BOTOX is injected. However, we use a very fine needle to minimise discomfort. Treatments are made as comfortable as possible according to the treatment and the individual’s personal requirements.
